Almost there. Below are two screenshots of characters that I have placed into the scene. All are based on real people who use or work in the shop.

Newnum Art - inking, scanning, cleaning up

This is a quick screenshot of the whole image after it has been properly inked, scanned and joined.

brickwork inked scanned

Note: initially I used an ellipse for the break between interior/exterior details after decided that I didn't really like the brick-removal method. It looked like this:

nonremoved

Then, after feeling uneasy late at night about it (was it a cheese sandwich?), I went back to image and did some careful digital editing and used the ellipse outline as the basis for a brick removal-style exposure. This version is better because it uses the elliptical outline as the guide.

removed

This image is looking really strong now.

This gives an idea of what the agreed tidy pencils are like. In actuality I made a few extra changes on site.

Post Open House/Newnum Art: new commission.

IMG_0195
The Open Houses show was short but very sweet.

... a bit like Haydn Jones' 1957 Renault Dauphine.

IMG_0174
I had a fantastic space to display work with a very talented bunch of other artists. It was great that everything worked so well together.

Some good friends turned up, although some chose to stay in bed...

Thanks to the Saville Jones folks who were fun to be around and made it highly agreeable to be an exhibiting artist in Worthing. I would wanted to wish Maggie, Jo and Kellie all the best.

And then I got a call from Mandy and Martin Newnum of Newnum Art to begin my next commission. The piece will feature the next door courtyard and signature dolls-house view of the shop. Watch this space - I shall be working on this during the next week and a half.

Yes, I am now on twitter for all those more minute-by-minute informal bits of info. I will still be using this page to provide info on more permanent stuff like works in progress, shows and commissions.

I shall probably be twittering a few moments from the show this weekend.

Worthing Open Houses: 25-26 July

OpenHouses-flyersmall
I am getting ready to show some work at Saville Jones Architects as part of the Worthing Open Houses event later this month (10am-6pm, saturday 25th and sunday 26th July).

Here is the official weblink, which includes some details about the other artists I will be sharing the space with.

The address is 74 Victoria Road Worthing BN11 1UN, and they are helpfully located almost opposite Worthing train station.

How to get there

Many thanks to Linda and Will for the invitation.

Argus report!

I was really glad to get some great coverage in the Argus today*. Many thanks to the nice people who put it together for me. Just in time for the last day of the show.
