The Bible epilogue text can be found here (you may have to
scroll down a bit to find the exact
part...).
My intentions
There was a lot of stuff about TV phone quizzes being rigged in the last few weeks, so I decided to try and make some comment on it. In particular I wanted to say something about the unkind nature of these things. The text I have linked to as the epilogue is perfect as a commentary.
Style notes
The stick man style gets an airing again because it is easier to describe the trap door without any fancy angles. My favourite bits are the shadows, the phone ringing and the walking TV.
Other
Here are a couple of the earlier drafts. As you can see, the text is quite heavy to begin with and I had to trim it down somewhat.
In the second draft it was unlikely that I'd get the word 'sucker' past the censors and seeing as the joke hangs on it I changed it around a bit.
It is interesting how drafting brings new ideas. The central final idea is about the link between a thin promise and a thin bridge/trapdoor that collapses - something which only appeared as I was aiming in a different direction. Personally I really like this one.
